Licorice Root

Licorice, also known as sweet root, or gan cao in Traditional Chinese Medicine, belongs to the pea family and is originally from Asia and southern Europe. The root contains glycyrrhizin, a compound 50 times sweeter than table sugar, and is harvested from second or third year plants before being dried for use in creating teas, infusions, and decoctions.
