Oregano, Mexican

Mexican oregano, also known as wild marjoram, is a perennial herb from the mint family found in Europe, Asia, and the Mediterranean region. While it shares a similar taste to Greek oregano, Mexican oregano is a distinct species native to Mexico, Central and South America, and closely related to lemon verbena. Its gentle citrus notes, paired with a subtle pine flavor, make it a popular choice for cooking, as well as for preparing infusions, oils, and incense used by Curanderos, the indigenous shamans of Mexico and the American Southwest.
